This happened to me. Thankfully, my mom was on the phone when cops were called. She was able to break down what happened to the staff, and it made them realize I did not need to be there. If not for that... who knows how long I would have been in there.

I was just saying this to my wife the other day. I feel like they hold people in the hospital as long as they can. Make people stick around to be discharged, maximizing every billable hour. The medical field is so bloated with staff and wastefulness.

This happened to me when i was homeless. I decided to speak with a psychiatrist where i told them about relationships i had with people that ended and how im afraid that they might not be friendly to me if i saw them again...she wrote in the paperwork that i was afraid everyone was out to get me. She then wrote in the paperwork that i was a harm to myself because i hadnt slept in days after i told her i hadnt slept in a couple of days and she said i was delirious from not sleeping for days when i wasnt. She then had a 3 month commital made for me to stay in the hospital the entire summer..i was in the hospital from the end of March until September. I didnt go anywhere outside of the hospital and psych until. I was so upset and thats why i do not like talking to psychiatrist anymore or therapist because she was a therapist or psychiatrist that was at thr homeless shelter and i had no one else to talk to and she did that to me. Shai Jargenson is her name in iowa city if shes still there. That disruptive my life so much after i was being forced to be doped up because i wouldnt calm down

Same thing happened to me. After some sleep i felt better and wanted to go home but they held me prisoner. Ill never go to the hospital for help again. A few days went by and new drs came on shift and THOSE drs let me go shortly after they reviewed my case.

That’s a crap system. She should sue them. I don’t know the law in the US, but I know the law in the UK where there are mechanisms in place to ensure that the patient is not abused. Why exactly has this popped up in my feed? 😃🤨
